Michael Acquaviva

Hi, I’m Michael — a recent graduate of the Engineering Science program at the University of Toronto, where I specialized in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I’m interested in mixed-signal IC design, electromagnetics/RF, and multi-physics computational methods.

I am the co-founder and CTO at Prandtl Dynamics, a startup developing ultrasonic counter-drone systems for public safety and defence applications.

Learn more about what I’ve been building — featured in:

IFGF Solver

IFGF-Accelerated Electromagnetic Solver

Using the Interpolated Factored Green Function (IFGF) method, I built an \( \mathcal{O}(N \log N) \) solver for electromagnetic scattering problems.

Prandtl Dynamics' Directional Acoustic Matrix

Counter-UAS Directional Acoustic Matrix

An ultrasonic counter-drone system which targets the onboard MEMS devices required for stability, control, navigation, and visual feed.

GigaBIT Telescope

GigaBIT Balloon-Borne Imaging Telescope

A sub-millisecond latency control system for the pointing motors on next-generation balloon-borne stratospheric telescopes with gigapixel resolution.

VHF Radio

VHF Yagi-Uda Antenna, RF Amplifer, and Radio

Established communications with the International Space Station and ACARS air-traffic control with a self-built Yagi-Uda VHF antenna and custom signal chain.

Self-Driving Car

Electrical System for an Autonomus Car

A battery-management system, CAN network controller, buck-boost converter, and server power supply for an experimental self-driving car.

Ray-Tracing Research

Deep Learning-Accelerated Ray Tracing

A physics-informed generative adversarial network to accelerate ray tracing for the modelling of indoor RF and microwave signal propagation.

FPGA-Pong

Pong on a Xilinx FPGA

The classic Pong game, implemented as single- or dual-player, in hardware, on a Nexys 4 DDR FPGA board.
